Upon arrival crews found a two-door sedan sitting on a telephone pole guide wire stabilizer. All four tires of the vehicle were off the ground and the vehicle's front end was 8 to 9 feet above the ground at it's highest point. Crews placed 6' and 8' shoring on the underside of the vehicle. A tow company was specially requested to assist in rescue operations and the front of the vehicle was stabilized with the two tow trucks to keep the vehicle from rolling off of the guide wire. A paramedic gained access to the patient after stabilization was complete. It was found that the patient had a "medical event" that caused the crash. The patient was complaining of pain and near syncope. The patient was removed from the vehicle 35 minutes after arrival. The patient was transported to Mercy Hospital. Although crews were challenged with an unusual stabilization operation and 94 degree temperatures with high humidity, the removal of the patient was completed safely and efficiently. |
